I have been helping the NGO, SISS(self-help initiative support services)
I interned for them the last time I was in Ghana!
Warning: throwback ahead
|
at SISS in 2011 with fellow intern, Eugene |
then, in 2012, I wrote my senior paper, at UCI, using the work of SISS as a topic
ANYWAY...
really glad I re-connected with SISS to help them again.
They are currently focusing their efforts on the schools in this slum, Agbogbloshie.
Supporting the youth is seriously the key to the future.
And, I mean, look at these faces.
|
"helping" to clean the board
they saw the chance for photo opp! |
|
getting ready to ring the breaktime bell |
always makes me smile editing their photos
SISS is trying to get donations for books, learning materials and computers.
With the simple idea of putting books and shelves in every classroom, we hope it keep kids in school. By providing a safe and supportive place to learn education can be enhanced.
I know I took for granted all the materials and space
that helped me learn throughout my years of education
Still figuring out how to best spread info to people that would want to help.
So, I guess ‘share?’ this.. in virtual reality or physical reality.
Sometimes things in the world bring me down,
but I feel good when I see and meet the people I can have a direct impact on
but, thanks for reading this!
especially you mom :)
